Sankey lake is located in the western part of Bangalore, Sankey lies quite neat to the area of Vyalikaval, Malleshwaram, and Sadashivanagar. And it is one of the popular hangout places in Bangalore city, Sankey is an artificial lake which spread across an area o about 37.5 acres. Sankey lake was built in the year of 1882 by col. Richard Hieram Sankey of the madras sappers regiment on whose name the lake is now being called as. The lake was built with the purpose of water supply throughout Bangalore.

The Mayura Sankey boat club offers visitors with a wide variety of boat rides such as rowboats, pedal boats, and motorboats. This boat club is managed by KSTDC. It is one of the most beautiful places to hang out in Bangalore. And it is also called Gandhadhakotikere at that time as the Government Sandalwood Depot Was Situated near it.
The ideal time to visit this beautiful site is during the months o summer due to the cool weather. As Bangalore has a wonderful climate consistently, the lake can be at any time of the year. It is recommended to visit the tank in the evening as one can enjoy the beauty of the sunset.one can also check out the musical fountains after dark.
Sankey lake is easily accessible from within the city. One can travel to the place either by a private vehicle, rent a cab or take local transportation. Some BMTC buses are also available on that route.
